Eriez invests in its UK plant

U.S.-based magnetic equipment maker will begin making ECS rotors in the U.K.

Following what it calls a prolonged upturn in sales, United States-based magnetic equipment maker Eriez is investing $425,000 (£336,000) in a new rotor manufacturing facility to expand its European manufacturing facility in South Wales, United Kingdom. The plant supplies magnetic separation and metal detection equipment to customers in the U.K. and Europe.

The investment in the U.K. facility adds a third rotor manufacturing site to the company’s global network. Eriez-Europe will manufacture and stock a range of eddy current separator (ECS) rotors on-site, enabling customers to have quick access to process-critical spare rotors, says the firm.

The investment at Eriez-Europe will include a high-speed balancing machine and a filament winding machine to enable the manufacturing of Eriez’s line of ECS units, designed to recover nonferrous metals from a variety of recyclable streams. The new facility will increase production capacity of ECS rotors per year by one-third.

“Following continued success of supplying Eriez eddy current separators into a diverse range of industries, we are excited to be able to significantly expand our capabilities at Eriez-Europe and to facilitate further growth, strengthening our market position both locally in the UK and worldwide,” says John Curwen, managing director of Eriez-Europe.
