Eriez Introduces New Eddy Current Metal Separators

Eriez Magnetics, Erie, Pa., has introduced its newest eddy current separator. These state-of-the-art separators effectively remove nonferrous metallic particles from plastics, glass cullet, electronic scrap, automobile shredder residue (ASR), boiler bottom ash, spent foundry core sand, municipal solid waste (MSW), co-mingled recyclables, urban wood waste and mixed metals, the company says.

Eriez eddy current nonferrous metal separator systems feature improved permanent magnetic circuits with Rare Earth Erium 3000, which is more than five-times stronger than conventional magnets, according to the company.

In operation, eddy currents are induced into metallic particles. This produces repelling forces that separate the metallics from nonmetallics, providing a cleaner product for further processing. Removal of the metallics is selective and product loss is minimized.

Eriez’ eddy current separators are available with Eriez’ vibratory pan feeder, Rare Earth magnetic drum, and belt conveyor for processing different infeed materials. The standard, patented ceramic-surface rotor shell ensures long service life, the company says.

Eriez’ eddy separators are designed with low-energy or eccentric weight drives. Feed widths are offered up to 60 inches.
