Eriez, a separation equipment manufacturer based in Erie, Pa., has announced that both permanent and electromagnetic scrap drums can be repaired and upgraded for optimum efficiency at its Lake City, Pa., 5-star service center. Eriez says the service center is staffed with trained service technicians to handle service projects.
Magnetic scrap drum separators are mainly used to reclaim ferrous materials in shredded car bodies, scrap metal, municipal solid waste, wood waste, slag, incinerator bottom ash, foundry sand and minerals processing applications. Over time, scrap drums used in harsh industrial environments may wear, but can be restored with proper maintenance, Eriez says.
To keep the magnetic power at an optimum level, the Eriez 5-star service center is now offering a comprehensive maintenance program for scrap drums. Portions of the maintenance program include:
• Perform a visual inspection of shell, wiper, hub, shaft end and bearings
• Upgrade magnetic element and replace shell, if necessary
• Remove and replace coil for electromagnetic drum
• Test the scrap drum separator and ship back to customer
“Our team has the skill and knowledge to address customers’ issues and limit costly downtime of their scrap drums,” says Jim Lasko, manager of the service center. “We utilize original OEM parts, remanufacture equipment to original specifications and offer ‘as new’ warranties.”
Eriez also has service technicians available for in-house repairs and routine maintenance checks. “We understand that sending the equipment to our 5-star service center is not always a viable option, so Eriez will come to you, even on short notice,” says Dave Hansen, Eriez’ customer service manager.
Besides scrap drums, the service center upgrades and maintains other Eriez equipment, including eddy current separators, suspended electromagnets, wet drums, vibratory feeders, lift magnets and metal detectors.
Eriez says it stores several years of equipment records to help expedite servicing.
