ERI, a Fresno, California-based information technology asset disposition (ITAD) provider and cybersecurity-focused electronic hardware destruction company, has received the annual Supplier Sustainability Award from global technology company Verizon.

According to ERI, it was selected in recognition of its support of Verizon’s sustainability efforts as they relate to its direct-to-recycler PC Refresh Program, providing over 2,600 UPS labels which helped customers ship devices directly from their homes to ERI for responsible recycling. ERI says this effort led to it reselling over 215,000 pounds of electronics—including computers, servers and other devices—and the responsible recycling of more than 2 million pounds of e-scrap.

“It is an absolute honor and privilege to be receiving this award from our friends and colleagues at Verizon,” ERI co-founder, Chairman and CEO John Shegerian says. “Verizon’s game-changing PC Refresh sustainability initiative is a perfect example of a responsible recycler collaborating with a circular economy-minded company. Sustainability is a core value ERI and Verizon share, so we have been excited by the opportunity to help drive conservation at the scale that such an industry-leading technology company can provide.”

The award was presented as part of Verizon’s extended Earth Day activities, a two-month celebration of the work being completed in the area of sustainability.

“Verizon and ERI have a long collaboration in helping us to meet our sustainability goals through e-waste recycling excellence,” says James Gowen, senior vice president of global supply chain and sourcing and chief sustainability officer at Verizon. “Verizon is focused on taking bold steps toward reducing our environmental footprint, and we are pleased to present ERI with this recognition.”
