The electronics recycling company Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), headquartered in Fresno, Calif., has announced that it has received official letters of registration and certification from the independent auditor QMI-SAI Global stating that ERI’s Denver location is now certified to the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
The International Organization for Standardization sets global standards for business, government and society. Its ISO 14001 certification addresses environmental management.
According to a press release issued by ERI, receiving certification in this area indicates that the company has met or exceeded international standards for minimizing harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities and has achieved continual improvement in this area.
The OHSAS 18001 certification is an Occupation Health and Safety Assessment standard for health and safety management systems designed to help organizations control occupational health and safety risks.
ERI also has electronics recycling locations in California, Washington, Indiana, Massachusetts and Texas. The company says that it processes more than 120 million pounds of electronic scrap at its six locations.
