EPRC: Europe Gathers in Barcelona

Attendees from more than 15 nations gather at second annual European Paper Recycling Conference.

Recyclers and mill buyers from 16 nations and across almost all grades of paper gathered in Barcelona in late September for the second annual European Paper Recycling Conference.

Three different nations sent more than 20 attendees each, including host nation Spain as well as Germany and The Netherlands. More than 15 attendees traveled both from the United Kingdom and the United States to also help provide a full-to-capacity meeting room for the six sessions held at the Conference.

The speaker roster was filled out with representatives from nine different nations and from multi-national companies including Stora Enso, Smurfit Kappa Group, Europac, Sonoco and America Chung Nam.

The event’s sponsors this year included trade groups CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries) and IWPPA (Independent Waste Paper Processors Association), recovered paper firm ACN (Europe), consulting firms Moore & Associates and Pira, and German-based publication EUWID Recycling and Waste Management.

Attendees had several opportunities to browse through and mingle in an Exhibit Hall that included displays from 10 equipment companies (Binder & Co., Bollegraaf Recycling Machinery, Harris Waste Management Group, Macpresse Europa, NexGen Baling Systems, Paal Group, Presona AB, Synmet and TiTech Vision Sort) and one consulting firm (Pira International/Moore & Associates).
