Epiroc, a manufacturer of mining and infrastructure equipment, will triple its manufacturing space and increase its workforce by 50 percent in Thuringia, Germany. The company expanded its presence in Thuringia by increasing the production areas at its Dermbach and Barchfeld sites.
The company says this move addresses growing demand for high-quality hydraulic excavator attachments, including drum cutters, grapples, pulverizers, grabs and compactors.
“The decision to expand production capacities in Thuringia highlights our long-term commitment to the region,” says Torsten Ahr, managing director of Epiroc’s German production sites. “The team’s innovative strength and flexibility are decisive factors for our location.”
Two brands, one vision
Both Epiroc and its acquired brand Erkat manufacture products at these sites. Erkat’s advanced drum cutting technology is a factor in Epiroc’s future strategy, which will be strengthened by expanded production capacities.
The company says a key focus with the expansion is sustainable energy supply. The new production facilities are powered by solar roofing, marking a step toward climate-friendly manufacturing and aligning with Epiroc’s global sustainability strategy.
With new state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and sustainable infrastructure, Epiroc puts an emphasis on its promise of “Made in Germany” quality and positions Thuringia as a key region for the ongoing development of its product technologies.
