U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 cited Tower Industries LLC for alleged violations of federal and state clean-air regulations at two company plastics plants in Massillon, Ohio.
Last December Tower closed one of its plant and moved to a new facility. EPA alleges Tower built and operated its new plant, a major source of hazardous air pollutants, without getting a state permit.
In addition, EPA alleges that the new Tower plant exceeded emission limits for hazardous air pollutants and that the company did not get a determination of control technology requirements and give proper notifications for the plant.
EPA also alleges that Tower violated state regulations by failing to maintain daily records and to submit annual reports to the local health authority.
