The Pittsfield (Mass.) Resource Recovery Facility was honored earlier this month as the sole winner of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Small Combustion Facility Award. The company is a subsidiary of EnergyAnswers.
The facility was chosen based on a host of criteria, including success in reaching facilities goals; innovative and technical contributions to solid waste processing; environmental performance; health and safety performance; facility economics; and the facility’s role in integrated waste management.
In addition to combusting around 240 tons of waste from the surrounding area the facility accepts recyclables from residents of Pittsfield for transport to a regional Materials Recovery Facility.
