EMR Continues to Grow in the United Kingdom

Company closes deal for Sunderland Metal Company.

European Metal Recycling Ltd. has completed the acquisition of Sunderland Metal Co., one of the largest metal recycling firms in the North East portion of the United Kingdom. Sunderland is located in Pallion, U.K.

In making the acquisition, EMR noted that Sunderland will enhance the company’s scrap metal processing capabilities in the North East.
Sunderland Metal will continue to operate as normal under the new ownership, and will handle all grades of ferrous and non ferrous metal, including end of life vehicles.
Mike Seale, EMR’s regional director, noted, “We are delighted to have acquired such a well established company in Sunderland. The new site will complement our existing operations in the North East and give us the opportunity to expand our processing activities in an area where we have focused largely on shipping in the past. EMR is well known for offering an excellent service and we are looking forward to reinforcing this reputation at our new site.”
Bill Dalziel, Sunderland Metal Company’s managing director, said, “I would like to thank all our customers for their business and loyalty over the years and long may it continue.”
EMR, one of the largest metal recycling companies in the world, has 100 sites, including depots in Hartlepool, Blaydon, Tyne Dock, Middlesbrough and Marske. The company also has a significant presence in the United States through the acquisitions or partnership arrangements with companies in the Midwest and South.
