EMR opens new facility in UK

United Kingdom-based EMR Ltd. has opened a new facility in Ashford, U.K. With the new facility, EMR says it now has more than 170 operational sites worldwide and employs more than 4,000 people. EMR recycles around 10 million metric tons of metal each year, which it says contributes to the saving of approximately 10 million metric tons of CO₂ every year. 

EMR has invested more than £4 million ($5 million) into the purpose-built facility, which includes a Lefort 1000 model shear, deployed to allow EMR to process oversize scrap generated by manufacturing and demolition customers. The company also has invested in two scales designed to allow customers to be in and out of the site quickly.

“At EMR we recycle everything from a toaster to an aircraft carrier, and invest heavily in developing our own technologies in our quest to be the global leader in the provision of sustainable materials,” states EMR UK CEO Andrew Brady. “We provide real world recycling solutions to our customers, who range from the general public to some of the U.K.’s largest manufacturing companies.”
