European Metal Recycling acquired Bedford, UK-based scrap recycler Smith and Co today for an undisclosed sum.
Smith and Co., which has supplied EMR with scrap, has a baler, shear, plastics granulator, a non-ferrous warehouse and eight vehicles.
The company also is ISO 9001 certified, and operates an ISO 14001 environmental management system.
Bob Garwood, EMR director for the South East region, said: “Smith’s and Co has a strong reputation in the Bedford area and the move will significantly strengthen our national recycling network.”
The company, which was established in 1951, will continue to trade as Smith and Co.
