Empire Recycling Corp., based in Utica, N.Y., has acquired Becks Recycling Solutions Inc., Shortsville, N.Y.
Becks Recycling, founded in 2008 by Bradley Cook, Matt Eckdahl and Scott Eckert, buys and processes all grades of ferrous and nonferrous scrap in addition to handling recovered fiber.
According to an Empire Recycling release, the company is the only full-service recycling center in Ontario County, N.Y.
Steven Kowalsky, president of Empire, says, “We are excited about the latest addition to our family of companies. Becks’ extends our services further into western New York State. We look forward to working with their experienced team and seeing continued growth for Empire in the future.”
Empire, founded around 85 years ago, handles all grades of ferrous and nonferrous scrap. The company also operates a confidential document destruction service through its Confidata division and non-confidential paper recycling through its SMR Fibre division.
Empire currently has divisions in Utica, Syracuse, Liverpool, Waterloo, Albany, Watertown and Binghamton, N.Y. The company estimates that it handles around 30 million pounds of recyclables each month.
