Electronics Recycling Group Has Report Available

New report details growth in electronics recycling industry.

The International Association of Electronics Recyclers announced the publication and availability of the first and only comprehensive report on the electronics recycling industry. The report provides information about the industry.

The Report was announced at the recent ISEE/SUMMIT event in Boston in May. It includes an Industry Study section that provides current data and trends on electronics recycling in the United States – from a new Industry Survey conducted by the IAER as well as comprehensive industry research.

The report also contains other sections with information about the electronics recycling industry and the IAER – including an Industry Directory and a Guide to Services & Programs in Electronics Recycling.

Among the highlights of the Report are the following:

The size and growth of the industry has been quantified - more than 400 companies with estimated total annual revenues of more than $700 million and more than 7,000 employees collectively process more than 1.5 billion pounds of electronic equipment annually.

Significantly larger quantities of obsolete electronics are forecasted - 3 billion units of consumer electronics will be scrapped during the rest of this decade.

The volume of end-of-life electronics from all sectors will drive the electronics recycling industry to grow its capacity by a factor of 4 or 5 by the end of this decade

As the production and use of electronics products continues to increase throughout both the business and public sectors, the challenges of disposal and recovery of materials are becoming significant. The disposal of end-of-life electronics products has become a topic of interest and concern worldwide as municipalities face the potential of enormous volumes to handle in the future.

The IAER Electronics Recycling Industry Report is an essential resource for anyone involved or interested in electronics recycling. The Report has approximately 200 pages and 100 charts and illustrations and is available in both hard copy and CD ROM.

For more information about the Report and to order a copy, contact the IAER by visiting the association’s web site at http://www.iaer.org/communications/indreport.htm

The cost of the report is $59.95 for IAER members; $99.95 for nonmembers.
