Electronics Recyclers Form Alliance in Canada

Three Canadian companies sign alliance designed to improve the efficiency of electronics recycling in Manitoba.

Three Canadian-based organizations, Global Electric Electronic Processing Inc. (GEEP), Barrie, Ontario, Syrotech Industries, Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Responsible Electronics Recycling (RER), Selkirk, Manitoba, have entered into a strategic alliance to boost the collection and processing of electronic scrap in the province of Manitoba. In a news release, the partners say the alliance should lead to opportunities in shared research and development, service resources, employment opportunities and expand the distribution and collection network.

Under the agreement, GEEP Alberta will co-locate with RER in their Selkirk location. The new location expands GEEP’s Canadian network to seven locations.

Victor Roth, president of GEEP Alberta, says, “This alliance strengthens the individual capacities of GEEP, RER and Syrotech, while providing us an opportunity for new growth in Manitoba. GEEP looks forward to this mutually beneficial relationship, including future opportunities for new products and development collaboration.”

“This alliance leverages the respective brand, distribution, technology and marketing strengths of GEEP and Manitoba’s two top e-waste recycling depots, RER and Syrotech Industries. This alliance will enable us to satisfy our fundamental goal of diverting e-waste from Manitoba landfills,” says Alvin Keppler with RER. “RER represents a large sector of Manitoba’s rural e-waste collection services, and this alliance, with an internationally known processor, ensures that our member communities will receive the best, most environmentally friendly e-waste recycling services available in Canada.”

GEEP Alberta started relocating to the new facility in September 2011 and plans to begin operations at the new Manitoba location by early 2012.
