WeRecycle!, a Meriden, Conn.-based electronics recycler, has announced that a residential recycling program it conducted with Hewlett-Packard resulted in around 50 tons of electronic scrap that was diverted from the waste stream.
The free collection program took place in Stamford, Ct. It is one of a number sponsored by HP. The one-day event attracted more than 600 residents.
HP created the program to minimize electronic waste going to landfill
s and help consumers conveniently recycle products in an environmentally responsibly way. HP will be hosting another collection event Sept. 9 in Wallingford, Ct.
