ElectroniCycle Inc. was awarded "Recycling Business of the Year" by the Massachusetts Recycling Coalition. The company began the process of collecting electronics two years ago.
ElectroniCycle is the official CRT recycling contractor for the state of Massachusetts as well as several other state agencies and corporations in the Northeast. According to Robin Ingenthron, with ElectroniCycle, the company presently takes in 6 million pounds per year of electronics. He added that the company’s biggest problem at the present time is doubling the volume of material it is looking to take in.,
ElectroniCycle collects and repairs or recycles all grades of televisions, monitors, computer equipment, and electronics, as an alternative to mining and dumping.
Ingenthron says that about 15 percent of the electronics collected is repaired and resold. The other 85 percent of the material is demanufactured, with the various materials and components shipped to various end markets.
