Eldan Recycling Installs Cable Recycling Plant in Mexico

Eldan Recycling A/S, Faaborg, headquartered in Denmark, has sold a complete cable granulation and separation plant to Viakon Conductores, a producer of electrical cables located in Monterrey, Mexico. With the system, Viakon will be able to process mixed cables and wire into pure copper and plastic at around 1,000 kilograms per hour.

Viakon acquired their first Eldan cable recycling system in 1984. After 30 years of production, the company replaced the cable recycling system with the current system. “We have chosen Eldan equipment again due to the reliability and low maintenance cost,” says Hector Gámez Báez, Viakon’s maintenance manager.

“Copper is very expensive, which is why it is important for us as a cable producer to reuse any waste production material” says Francisco Monsiváis Contreras, technical manager at Viakon.

The equipment was to be installed in November, 2012.

Since 1956 Eldan Recycling has been manufacturing machinery and methods for recycling tires, cables and WEEE. The company delivers both turnkey systems as well as single machines.
