EFI Recycling, a commercial recycling and brokerage company based in Portland, Ore., has completed the installation of a $1 million sorting line upgrade that will allow it to process single-stream material. The company says the conversion allows it to receive and process more grades of paper and plastics.
The upgraded facility measures 25,000 square feet and serves a four-county area.
Because the recycling center is focused on commercially generated material, an overwhelming majority of the material delivered to the plant is old corrugated containers (OCC), says Scott Jenkins, vice president and COO of EFI Recycling. The facility does not take in glass.
The sorting line features Bollegraaf Recycling Machinery, which was supplied by Van Dyk Baler Corp. of Stamford, Conn. The line started July 20, 2011.
The processing line includes an OCC screen, metering drum, optical sorters and magnets.
“We view each of our clients as a business partner, and it’s our goal to make their recycling process as easy as possible,” says Jenkins. “For this reason, we’ve made a significant investment with the sort line upgrade, ensuring our partners will spend little to no time worrying about their recycling.”
EFI Recycling handles the buying and selling of recovered paper, plastic and OCC on behalf of its commercial clients.
