Edge Innovate introduces basket system

Edge Innovate, a Northern Ireland-based company that designs and manufactures equipment for the recycling and quarrying industries, has recently launched the basket system that can be used with the company’s Slayer XL slow-speed shredder. 

Edge says that with the new screen system, material is shredded to the required particle size in just one pass. The baskets come in various apertures ranging from 50 millimeters to 250 millimeters, depending on the customer’s requirements. The baskets also can be quickly removed or exchanged for a different aperture.

Edge Innovate says the Edge Slayer can be employed as either a primary or secondary shredder because of  its design and resistance to difficult-to-shred material. The XL range can be supplied with up to 12 different shaft configurations, making the machine suitable for a wider range of applications. This, combined with features such as tramp metal cycles and intelligent load sensing, is designed to prevent asset damage and downtime. With a high percentage of material processed by primary shredders not being resized to the desired piece size required, Edge Innovate says the new Slayer basket system guarantees the operator the desired piece in just one pass, cutting down on production times and operating costs.

This new shredding chamber configuration comes with bolt-on tools with two cutting edges, which doubles tooth life; heavy-duty pipe unit shafts; and an optional tooth breaker bar, the company says. The new cutting edges on the bolt-on tools enable the Slayer basket system to both cut and shred, which allow the Slayer to process difficult-to-handle materials such as carpets, tires and mattresses at a high throughput capacity but with low engine output.

The Edge Slayer can be customized to provide the right tonnage at the desired pieces size. If preshredding is required, simply remove the basket mesh. Ultimately, the Edge Slayer can be used as both a preshredder and secondary shredder at one time.
