ECS Refining, Santa Clara, Calif., has announced that after launching its ecollective network of drop-off locations for obsolete electronics one month ago, more than 70 percent of California households are now within 10 miles of the closest collection center.
ECS is a recycling and end-of-life services company specializing in electronics, industrial equipment and hazardous wastes.
“We are well on our way toward achieving our goal of locating an ecollective e-waste drop-off location within 10 miles of 95 percent of all households in the state,” says Jim Taggart, president of ECS Refining, Santa Clara, Calif.
“We know that, on average, each household has about 95 pounds of unwanted or obsolete electronics. We’re making it as easy as possible for consumers and businesses to safely recycle these items, ensuring that they won’t be sent overseas for dismantling and destruction, or get into landfills. We encourage everyone to look around their home or office, locate that old TV, video games console, or computer, and take it back for good at a local ecollective.”

All electronic scrap collected at the ecollective drop-off locations are sent to state-approved electronics recycling plants operated by ECS Refining, a recycling and end-of-life services company specializing in electronics, industrial equipment and hazardous wastes.
