Bulgaria's Environment Minister Nona Karadzhova has broken the ground on the construction of a glass recycling plant in Ravno Pole, Bulgaria that will be operated by Ecopack Bulgaria. When operational, the factory will have a capacity to handle 50,000 metric tons of bottles per year. The bottles are expected to be delivered to the facility in three ways – from containers for recycling around the country, bottling companies, and commercial units such as restaurants, according to Sofia News Agency.
Earlier this year, Bulgaria’s Minister of Environment and Water handed over the order recognizing that member-companies of Ecopack collective system have achieved the recovery and recycling targets for last year.
Ecopack Bulgaria, a non- profit company established in February 2004 by 18 Bulgarian and multinational companies, is a member of the European packaging recovery organization Pro Europe.
