Ecomondo 2015 set for November in Italy

Expo dedicated to the green economy will feature new components highlighting water and public transport.

The 19th edition of the Ecomondo International Trade Fair on Material, Energy Recovery and Sustainable Development takes place Nov. 3-6, 2015, at the Rimini Fiera Expo Centre in Rimini, Italy.

The event, billed as a “green technology expo,” is organized by Rimini Fiera and is expected to feature some 1,200 exhibiting companies occupying 16 halls, and more than 100,000 visitors.

Core programming topics covers the treatment and recovery of waste with a close focus on bio-based industry and green chemistry. Also part of this year’s event is the new Global Water Expo dedicated to the integrated water cycle, sewage systems and technologies for efficiency, a sector considered to be growing rapidly, event organizers say.

Returning at this year’s event is The Sustainable City project, dedicated to the “city of smart networks” which will be completed with new sectors to include green public transport and urban upgrading. The Park of Nation component will feature innovations from national technological and scientific centers.

Città Sostenibile (“Sustainable City”), the Rimini Fiera project for the “City of smart networks,” will occupy 6,000 squares meters, event organizers says, demonstrating solutions, technologies and projects that permit greater quality of life for people and that favor the sustainable and efficient development of land. This year the main themes will be eco-friendly mobility and sustainable school facilities.

The aim is to promote the exchange of experiences throughout the country and provide key public authority figures with the tools and skills necessary to navigate through the current regulations and find the appropriate financing opportunities for redeveloping and managing existing buildings.

In addition, Rimini Fiera says, this year, Città Sostenibile will host “innovation woods,” dedicated to the projects of young Italian researchers and students.
