Ecollective e-waste recycling network says it has been seeing increases in material harvested from Southern California. Since the launch of the Ecollective initiative statewide in October 2010, the number of authorized Ecollective electronic scrap drop-off locations in Southern California has increased from 30 to 111, says the network.
The Ecollective program is operated by ECS Refining and is designed to help residents and businesses in Southern California looking to recycle television sets, computer monitors, computers, printers and a range of other electronics.
More than 2.5 million pounds of electronic scrap have been recycled through Ecollective locations in Southern California, and 13 million pounds have been recycled statewide. Now, almost 300 Ecollective e-waste drop-off locations are available statewide, which ECS Refining says gives more than 10 million households access to an electronic recycling center. The Ecollective program contributes to the California’s SB-20 e-waste recycling initiative.
ECS Refining says it plans to expand in the future as resources and demand allow.
