The Eagle Sidewall Cutter and Eagle Super Slicer have long been staples in the realm of tire recycling and sidewall removal. Sidewalls are used as weights for livestock feed storage coverings and construction traffic drums as well as mulch rings for trees. Treads can be flattened and used as bumpers for loading or boat docks, matting for livestock stalls and aggregate retention systems for road work. While Eagle’s portable and stationary options have been the standard, they have recently released a Skid Steer attachment variation of the Super Slicer that has been well received by the agricultural community.
The Eagle Super Slicer can remove the sidewalls from car and truck tires up to 44 inches on the outside diameter with a hardened alloy serrated blade. You can also adjust the location of the blade to remove the bead. A safety screen keeps the operator safe while observing the cutting process. Avoid heavy lifting with the hydraulic powered tire lift – operators just roll the tire into place and the machine lifts the tire into place for cutting. All of this is mounted on a frame containing quick attach functionality which makes it compatible with most skid steers, which is now common on most cattle feed lot and dairy operations.
“This style of equipment been something that cattle feeders in our region have been asking for, and the response has been considerable,” says Anthony Yarger, salesperson at Eagle International. “It’s easy to move to and from tire piles and can also be used as a stand-alone unit that can plug into any external hydraulic power source—like a tractor or loader.
“The compact design allows for easy storage when not in use and you can move it from site to site just by loading it into the back of your truck bed,” he adds. “The convenience and portability have proven to be a driving factor for cattlemen in our area. We expect that others will see the advantages as well.”
