Computer Experts, Inc. is partnering with a collection of other companies and organizations on an event October 25 in Indianapolis.
The company, along with Virtual Scavenger Project, Goldsmith Group Inc. and the Indianapolis Department of Public Works, is offering a one-day Drive-Through e-Cycling event for businesses in downtown Indianapolis.
The company will donate the items to the Goldsmith Group and Virtual Scavengers Project, organizations that help protect the environment by keeping computers and other electronics out of landfills.
The event will run from 10 AM to 2 PM. During that time businesses can drive through and drop off items in front of Computer Experts’ office at 101 E. Michigan St. Assistance will be available to help unload and sort items so that they can be returned to Virtual Scavengers or Goldsmith Group for recycling or refurbishment. Equipment will be received at no charge.
"Although we offer other recycling events throughout the year, this is an eCycling opportunity specifically geared to downtown businesses," said Indianapolis Department of Public Works spokeswoman Margie Smith-Simmons. "This is an untapped market for us and we’re going to make it as easy as possible by offering drive-through, drop-off service as well as help prior to the event for participants that need advice on how to delete confidential information."
Recyclable items include: laptops, PCs, fax machines, copiers, monitors, keyboards, cell phones, printers, computer components, external power supplies, Zip drives, and peripherals such as mice, controllers, and speakers.
