DuPont, a Wilmington, Delaware-based multinational chemical company, has announced the winners of its global awards program, the Tyvek Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards.
DuPont announced the winners at the Medical Packaging Conference, which the company hosted Oct. 6-8. The awards program is designed to recognize those in the health care industry who drive sustainability throughout the packaging lifecycle.
Evercare, a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) packaging solutions company launched by Evertis, won the packaging (re)design category for its development of the Endurance R50 film. The winning material is a medical-grade packaging solution that incorporates up to 50 percent postconsumer recycled (PCR) content.
The health care industry faces challenges in adopting recycled materials due to strict regulatory requirements, DuPont says, limiting the integration of PCR content into regulated health care packaging.
Evercare’s Endurance R50 film offers comparable thermoforming, sealing and barrier performance to virgin PETG while meeting regulatory compliance standards.
“The award-winning initiatives showcased in the 2025 DuPont Tyvek Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards are a true testament to how the healthcare packaging industry continues to make meaningful strides in sustainable innovation,” says David Domnisch, DuPont, Tyvek and Typar vice president and general manager. “DuPont is proud to partner with customers in the healthcare packaging industry to help them meet and exceed their sustainability goals while continuing to provide the highest level of product and patient safety.”
Amcor, a Zurich-based packaging solutions company, won in the operational efficiencies category for creating ACT2100, a heat seal coating that delivers strong seals and breathability.
B. Braun Medical Inc., an infusion therapy and pain management company based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, won the sustainability in-use award for its redesign of regional anesthesia and procedure tray packaging. The new system eliminates 64 metric tons of plastic and 4,400 pounds of paper annually, DuPont says.
The Tyvek Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards program is open to any medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturer, sterile packaging manufacturer, healthcare facility, university, material recovery facility or other healthcare company focused on sustainable packaging made with Tyvek material. The next application period is expected to open May 2026.
