Iceland-based metals analysis technology provider DTE has appointed Sohail Nazari as its new chief commercial officer (CCO).
Nazari has more than 15 years of experience in automation-related industrial sectors, including at Austria-based industrial processing systems provider Andritz Group, where he served as a global vice president.
At Andritz, Nazari transformed and expanded profitable business solutions across multiple sectors by helping customers enhance production performance and profitability through the adoption of advanced automation and digitalization, DTE says.
“We are delighted to welcome Sohail to DTE’s leadership team,” says Jakob Ásmundsson, CEO of DTE. “His deep expertise in industrial automation and proven success in building global digitalization businesses come at exactly the right moment in DTE’s journey. As we expand our commercial operations and global partnerships, Sohail’s leadership will be instrumental in accelerating the adoption of our LP-LIBS technology across the aluminum value chain. We see enormous potential for our solutions to help producers enhance quality, safety, and sustainability, while driving measurable gains in efficiency and profitability.”
DTE says Nazari’s appointment signals a new phase of growth for the company as it scales globally to meet what it calls accelerating demand for its liquid-phase laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy technology to provide in-furnace compositional analysis of molten aluminum.
“The appointment also comes at a critical time for the global aluminum sector,” DTE says. “With European Union producers calling for a 30 percent export levy on aluminum scrap to safeguard domestic recycling capacity, and demand for low-carbon metal rising worldwide, producers face mounting pressure to do more with the material already in circulation.”
Nazari will be based in Vancouver, British Columbia, which DTE says reflects in part its growing presence in North America.
“Fast, relevant, and accurate data is the foundation of digital transformation," Nazari says. "DTE’s real-time analysis technology is a breakthrough innovation that provides aluminum producers with immediate insight into melt chemistry previously beyond reach. This capability enables manufacturers to unlock new levels of efficiency, make faster and smarter decisions that increase throughput, enhance consistency, and maximize scrap utilization.
"I look forward to collaborating with DTE’s exceptional team to accelerate global growth and be part of our customers’ success stories by setting a new standard of productivity in the metals industry.”
Asmundsson was appointed as DTE’s CEO at the start of this year, and Auður Árnadóttir was appointed the company’s chief financial officer about a month before that.
