Downtown Paper Recycling, a Detroit-based paper recycling operation, has recently opened a new division called Shred Me. Downtown Paper has been in operation in the Detroit area for more than 50 years.
While the company has performed shredding of fiber documents for many years, the company opted to put in a new shredding line to allow the company to focus on off-site shredding opportunities.
Harry Burstyn with Downtown Paper, said that while the company has been shredding and destroying documents for many years, the decision to add equipment, in this case and Ameri-Shred 7500, will give the company the opportunity to increase the service to its customer base, primarily printing plants and offices.
While the company is looking at increasing the amount of off-site shredding and purging jobs, Burstyn says the company is not looking to compete with the off-site shredding companies.
Further, while some companies are looking to extend their coverage to electronic destruction, Downtown Paper Recycling will focus on paper shredding, while steering companies to a locally based electronics recycling company.
