Doe Run executive to chair International Lead Association

Aaron Miller, vice president of operations and COO for the lead mining and recycling company Doe Run Co., St. Louis, has been appointed chairman of the International Lead Association (ILA), London. The ILA says it is focused on the production, use and recycling of lead. Miller previously served on ILA’s executive committee.

“Through groundbreaking research on lead and promoting responsible lead use and recycling, ILA is crucial in preparing the lead industry for a long and profitable future,” says Miller. “I’m honored to partner with ILA members as we work to meet the challenges and opportunities facing our industry. Together, we can meet the rising global demand for lead used in everyday items, such as lead-acid batteries and protective medical shielding.”

ILA members represent about 3 million tons of lead production per year and are involved in all facets of lead manufacturing,  from mining to recycling.

As Doe Run COO, Miller oversees all of the company’s mining, milling and lead recycling operations in Missouri and two lead fabrication sites in Arizona and Washington. Prior to being named COO, Miller served as Doe Run’s vice president of environmental, health and safety, applying more than 20 years of environmental compliance experience to guide the company’s sustainability strategy.
