DJJ Announces Promotion

The scrap metal firm David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ) has promoted Karen Arnold to the position of senior vice president of employee services. Arnold succeeds Judith Smith, who retired in late August after 21 years with the company.

Arnold, with 25 years of leadership experience in the human resources field, joined DJJ when her previous employer, Galamba Metals, was acquired by DJJ. Following the acquisition, Galamba Metals’ name was changed to Advantage Metals Recycling. 

Arnold was promoted to corporate director of training and developing for DJJ in 2012 prior to being promoted to the senior vice president role.

DJJ, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor Corp., is headquartered in Cincinnati. The company operates 15 domestic and international ferrous and nonferrous scrap brokerage offices where it trades ferro-alloys and specialty pig iron. The company operates six regional scrap recycling companies in the United States, which include a network of nearly 70 facilities. The company also operates nine self-serve used auto parts stores.
