The metal recycling firm David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ), Cincinnati, has announced that three of its U-Pull-&-Pay (UPAP) facilities in Colorado and two of its Western Metals Recycling (WMR) facilities in the state have been recognized by the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) as Gold Leaders. Both UPAP and WMR are wholly owned by DJJ.
The three Colorado UPAP facilities recognized are in Aurora, Colorado Springs and Denver; the two WMR facilities receiving recognition are in Englewood and Grand Junction.
The ELP is a statewide environmental recognition and reward program administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The ELP recognized the facilities for voluntarily going beyond compliance with state and federal regulations and for their commitment to continual environmental improvement.
UPAP and WMR both attained ELP’s Gold Level, the program’s highest achievement, in the companies’ first year of participation.
Tre Whitmore, UPAP president, says, “All of our dedicated teammates really drive the success of our environmental initiatives. We have several teams focused on improving our environmental performance and many teammates committed to improving the local environment and quality of life through individual and community efforts.”
Jeff Davis, WMR president, says, “At WMR’s recycling facilities, we strive to go above and beyond by setting the environmental bar well above what is required. We are proud of WMR’s environmental achievements and continued commitment to environmental excellence.”
UPAP operates nine self-serve used auto parts stores in the United States, each with more than 1,000 used cars and trucks on site.
WMR, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, operates nine recycling facilities, including three auto shredders, in Colorado, Utah and Nevada.
