The David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ), Cincinnati, has purchased the assets of Houston scrap recycler Northwest Recycling, which includes an auto shredder on a 23-acre parcel located at the Port of Houston.
DJJ will operate the Houston facility under the name Texas Port Recycling (TPR), according to a news release issued by the company. DJJ has named Daniel L. Bonivich, currently president of its Western Metals Recycling LLC subsidiary, as president and general manager of the new TPR limited partnership. Jeff Davis will be brought over from DJJ subsidiary Trademark Metals to become the new president of Western Metals.
The former Northwest Recycling was purchased by DJJ from a joint venture owned by Alan and Carol Walker and John Newell. Alan Walker and his daughters Kari Coffey and Shari Conner will be retained by DJJ as part of the TPR management team, according to the DJJ news release. John Newell will focus his efforts on running his other recycling facilities in San Antonio and Eagle Pass, Texas.
The 23-acre Port of Houston site acquired by DJJ has been in operation for more than 30 years as a scrap recycling facility. DJJ says it will be replacing the existing shredder with a larger one that it plans to have up and operating in early 2007.
