The Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs program will be showing an episode that focuses on Sims Recycling Solutions’ Roseville, Calif., facility on Nov. 3. The program has been shooting episodes that tfocus on “green businesses.”
In the episode, program host Mike Rowe will perform a blade rotation in one of North America's largest e-waste shredders built for shredding end-of-life electronics. Each blade in this machine weighs approximately 13 pounds allowing it to break down electronic waste to the size of a dime in about thirty seconds. Mike Rowe rotated about 50 blades and then had the opportunity to dismantle some cathode ray tube.
"This was a great opportunity for us to show the inner workings of our electronic scrap recycling business" said James Cuppet, plant manager. "Sims Recycling Solutions has spent the time and money to invest in the proper equipment to shred unwanted electronics so they can be returned back to a commodity form and recycled into new products."
