Derichebourg, a Paris-based recycling company, has completed the acquisition of Bartin Recycling, formerly a subsidiary of Veolia, also headquartered in France.
Bartin Recycling, which specialises in the collection and recycling of ferrous and nonferrous metal, has more than 20 sites in France. The company handles 450,000 tonnes of scrap metal per year.
The sale does not include Veolia’s end-of-life material dismantling and deconstruction business, which includes aircraft, ships, rail rolling stock and industrial facilities.
Veolia Environmental Services acquired Bartin Recycling in 2007. At that time, Bartin Recycling was the third-largest metals recycling firm in France.
When Derichebourg first announced plans to acquire Bartin, Abderaman El Aoufir, deputy chief executive officer of Dericheourg, said the acquisition would allow the company to expand its regional coverage in France and ensure supply to its recycling units with volume from these recently acquired sites.
Derichebourg has more than 300 locations in 14 countries. The company’s activities are divided into two separate branches: The Environment division and the Multiservices division.
