Dell Computer announced it has already surpassed its goal of collecting 100 tons of unwanted computer equipment through its five-city Dell Recycling National Tour, and that it is extending the program to 10 additional cities.
With two collection events remaining, the company has donated or recycled more than 160 tons of unwanted computer equipment. Along with adding 10 cities, Dell has upped the amount of equipment it expects to collect to 400 tons.
The Dell recycling tour returns with a collection event scheduled today on Dell's Round Rock headquarters and another slated for Sunday, April 27 in Austin. Collection events have already taken place in Nashville, Tenn.; Columbus, Ohio; Charlotte, N.C., and Portland, Ore. Cities and dates for the expanded tour will be announced at a later date.
In addition to the Dell Recycling National Tour, Dell is offering consumers the ability to register online for convenient and affordable home pick-up of unwanted computers and select peripherals for only $15 per unit. Since the online program launched March 19, there have been more than 100,000 visits to the Dell Recycling Web site. Also, Dell customers buying new Dell printers can recycle their old printers at no additional cost. Additional information can be found at www.dell4me.com/recycling.Latest from Recycling Today
