Dell and Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio have introduced a new product to recycle obsolete computers.
The program, called Reconnect, offers free recycling for any type of computer in any condition. Residents of the Toledo area can access the following site to find a drop-off location for their older computers (www.reconnectpartnership.com).
The two companies hope to divert close to 1 million pounds of used computers and computer equipment over the next year. The Reconnect program also hopes to provide educational resources for residents.
The Reconnect programs are presently operating in Austin, Tex. (15 counties in Central Texas); San Francisco, including Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties; San Antonio (23 counties in Central and South Texas); North Carolina (49 counties), San Diego County; Pittsburgh; Philadelphia; and throughout Michigan and New Jersey.
