The city of Easton, PA, has temporarily tabled a decision on a proposed auto salvage and recycling yard that was going to be located at an idled auto recycling plant.
According to Becky Bradley, chief planner with the city of Easton, the idled facility, slightly more than a half acre, is sitting on a flood plain, which is of concern to the city.
While the location has been zoned for industrial uses, a special use permit is required for the scrap yard.
According to local press reports, Michael and Rosetta Muccie, the parties that acquired the land, propose operating Trenton Auto Recycling Inc. The operation would process about 20 vehicles a day and employ as many as 10 people.
Bradley added that the parties who purchased the land are amendable to working with the city to develop a plan to keep the facility clean.
While the decision on the salvage yard was tabled for the most recent meeting, slated for Oct. 16th, Bradley says that matter could be brought up at a following meetings, either Nov. 1 or Dec. 6.
