Mexico-based steelmaker Deacero has ordered a Q-Melt Dynamic Heat Suite and new continuous scrap charge system from Italy-based technology provider Danieli for its electric arc furnace (EAF) steel minimill in Ramos, Mexico.
Danieli describes the Q-Melt Dynamic Heat Suite as “the latest evolution of the automatic control of the EAF at any stage of the melting process.”
The systems’ Melt-Model has been designed to continuously interact with an electrode regulator and a gas analyzer to control furnace operating conditions.
According to Danieli, the suite of products also “automatically identifies deviations in process-controlled variables, correcting them according to the best possible practice to avoid energy losses.”
Installation of the new technology is planned for completion in June 2019. The “typical payback of [the] Q-Melt package is less than eight months,” according to Danieli.
