Danieli Henschel shear installed in Belarus

Belarus ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal recycling company Belvtorchermet has held an official commissioning for its new CIB 1000-8 L Danieli Henschel shear.

Daniel Damart, managing director of Danieli Henschel, took part in the commissioning ceremony and presented keys to the new shear to Alexey Anoshko, managing director of Belvtorchermet, a state-affiliated company owned by Belarus Metallurgical Factory (BMZ).

“The installation of this impressive shear on the Urechcha, Belarus, site is a real event for us,” says Anoshko. “This strategic decision was made in 2012, with the aim of optimizing the supply of scrap metal to BMZ in Zhlobin, from this region of southern Belarus. We plan to double this site’s production, so the Minsk recycling site can be relieved of some of its workload and we can reorganize the whole scrap supply logistics system.”

At the commissioning ceremony, a Belvtorchermet chief engineer said the choice of Danieli Henschel had been far from simple. “After the launch of the call for tenders, the committee received a very large number of proposals, so it then applied a draconian selection process based solely on the criteria defined by the specification,” said the engineer, whose surname is Myadeletzev. “We finally chose Danieli Henschel because its equipment perfectly satisfied all the requirements of the specification, both technically and economically,” he added.

Danieli Henschel says the scrap shear Belvtorchermet purchased has a lateral reducer and a loading bucket and is suitable for the shearing of heavy, bulky scrap metal. The scrap metal moves from a loading bucket into an eight-meter box. The lateral reducer and the cover are then activated to reduce the scrap metal and prepare it for cutting. A pusher ram featuring a powerful cylinder then moves the compressed scrap toward the shear head. “With its 210-metric ton mass, this shear can operate at a production capacity of up to 45 metric tons per hour,” says Danieli Henschel.

The new CIB 1000-8 is the second piece of equipment purchased by Belvtorchermet from Danieli Henschel. The first is a pre-shredder installed upstream from the company’s shredder.
