Italy-based Danieli says it will be supplying four 150-metric-ton “zero-bucket ultra-high power electric arc furnace (EAF)” units to China-based steelmaker Guangdong Jinshenglan.

The furnaces include Danieli’s endless casting system (ECS) “for continuous scrap preheating and charging,” the firm says. They will be installed in a new steel complex in Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, in south China.

According to Danieli, “The sum of the installed advanced technologies will lead to high productivity, extremely efficient operating results with optimized manpower and low specific-energy consumption, a combination that renders the plant highly competitive.”

The furnaces also will feature what Danieli calls a “diving pool” asymmetric bottom shell, electrode regulation and a melt chemistry package based on fixed oxygen-and carbon injectors plus supersonic sidewall lances, along with other forms of automation.

The first Guangdong Jinshenglan Danieli furnace is expected to start operation at the beginning of 2021.
