DAK Americas, Charleston, S.C., a subsidiary of Grupo Alfa, plans to begin construction of their second PET production unit at their Moncks Corner, S.C. plant site this month.
The construction schedule for the estimated $100 million project is expected to be completed within nine months of groundbreaking.
This new unit will produce 330 million pounds per year of PET when completed next spring and double DAK's current North American PET capacity. DAK acquired this plant through an acquisition from DuPont in August of last year.
In addition to the Cooper River site, DAK Americas has the world's largest fully operational single stream PET facility located at the Cedar Creek Site in Fayetteville, N.C. The expansion will utilize the same proven technology with improved flexibility for manufacturing multiple specialty products. With its parent Alpek, the company is the second largest TPA / PTA manufacturer in the world. This ingredient position allows DAK Americas to ensure supply, quality and consistency of its raw materials.Get curated news on YOUR industry.
