Leading drugstore and pharmacy company CVS Health, Woonsocket, Rhode Island, has announced its membership in the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC). CVS Health joins more than 190 coalition members, including Target, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, USPS, Verizon and Disney Consumer Products, collectively working to advance sustainable packaging.
CVS Health's membership in the SPC builds on the company’s efforts to reduce product packaging waste in collaboration with its suppliers.
"Retailers play a pivotal role in packaging decisions, and CVS Health's tremendous reach offers a tremendous opportunity," says Adam Gendell, SPC associate director. "We are excited to welcome CVS to the coalition and we look forward to working together."
Eileen Howard Boone, senior vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy for CVS Health says, "One of the key pillars of our CSR (corporate social responsibility) roadmap is to reduce our impacts on the environment. We are committed to reducing waste resulting from our products and packaging, and we're excited to be part of this coalition to help achieve that goal."
The SPC is a membership-based collaborative led by GreenBlue, Charlottesville, Virginia, an independent nonprofit that says it believes in the power of industry to make packaging more sustainable.
