Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services hires new CEO

Jay Perko held positions at Republic Services and Allied Waste.

Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services, a regulated medical waste (RMW) disposal company serving a growing number of hospitals and health care providers across the East Coast and a portfolio company of Summer Street Capital Partners LLC, Buffalo, New York, has announced the appointment of Jack Perko as president and CEO.

Perko has more than 25 years of experience in the environmental services sector, having held leadership positions at the industry's largest waste services companies in the U.S. and Australia. Prior to Curtis Bay, Jack was a managing director of Cleanaway Waste Management Ltd., Australia’s largest, publicly traded waste management company with over 4,000 employees, 200 locations and $1 billion in annualized trading. For more than 20 years with Republic Services and Allied Waste, Perko held senior leadership positions across the East, South and Midwest regions in the U.S. While at Republic Services and Allied Waste, Perko successfully developed and executed on business plans and market-based strategies, led several acquisition integrations, built and managed new regional teams and earned recognition for safety and performance results.

At Curtis Bay, Perko will lead key strategic growth and operational initiatives.
