CSPA RePlas event to provide update on plastics recycling in China

RePlas 2018 is in mid-September in Dongguan, China.

The Beijing-based China Scrap Plastics Association (CSPA) is co-hosting the Expo ChinaRePlas2018 China International Recycling Plastics Exhibition Sept. 13-14 at the GD Modern International Exhibition Center in Dongguan, China, in that nation’s southern Guangdong Province. Dongguan is 70 kilometers (44 miles) from Guangzhou, China.

The CSPA says the event will examine the nation’s industry in light of China’s former plastic scrap import volume of some 6 million metric tons compared to the new environment of import restrictions. The group says it also will examine the potential for international trade concerning global capital, equipment, technologies and know-how. “China is now both the world’s largest recycling plastics market and the largest renewable plastics market,” states the group.

CSPA indicates the September event will “focus on five major areas,” to include:

  • the role of Southeast Asia in plastics recycling;
  • the global procurement of plastic scrap and recycled-content plastic;
  • ·outbound investments from China and where they are targeted;
  • the establishment of global operations and alliances; and
  • the examination of new technologies and new equipment from around the world.

“We shall invite industry representatives from many sectors, including plastic piping, agricultural plastics, woven materials, blown film, plastic coatings of electrical wire and cable, plastics for electronic products and others to visit our exhibition,” states the group in its invitation letter. CSPA says the event is designed “to facilitate direct cooperation between [delegates] and exhibitors.”

The event will offer 6,000 square meters (64,500 square feet) of exhibit space, with 200-plus exhibitors from around the world expected, including plastic scrap suppliers, processors and buyers; government departments; technology providers and equipment manufacturers; and resource park (industrial park) operators.

The CSPA says it is aiming to bring together some 6,000 people from all sectors of the plastic recycling industry, including delegates and vendors from the United States, Europe, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Along with CSPA, the event is being co-hosted and organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and the China Synthetic Resin Association.
