World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), Brussels, was 134 million metric tons in October 2015, a 3.1 percent decrease compared with October 2014.
China’s crude steel production for October 2015 was 66.1 million metric tons, a decline of 3.1 percent compared with October 2014. Japan produced 9 million metric tons of crude steel in October 2015, a decrease of 3.8 percent compared with October 2014.
In the EU, Germany produced 3.6 million metric tons of crude steel in October 2015, an increase of 2.7 percent compared with October 2014. Italy’s crude steel production was 1.9 million metric tons, down by 8.6 percent relative to October 2014. Spain produced 1.3 million metric tons of crude steel in October 2015, decreasing 3.1 percent compared with October 2014. France’s production for October 2015 was 1.2 million metric tons, a decrease of 20.9 percent compared with one year earlier.
Turkey’s crude steel production for October 2015 was 2.8 million metric tons, an increase of 2 percent relative to October 2014.
In October 2015, Russia produced 5.7 million metric tons of crude steel, down by 2.4 percent compared with one year earlier. Ukraine produced 2.1 million metric tons of crude steel, increasing 6.4 percent compared with October 2014.
The U.S. produced 6.7 million metric tons of crude steel in October 2015, decreasing 8.8 precent compared with October 2014.
Brazil’s crude steel production for October 2015 was 3 million metric tons, a decrease of 2.3 percent relative to October 2014.
The crude steel capacity utilization ratio for the 66 countries in October 2015 was 68.3 percent. This is 3.4 percentage points lower than in October 2014. Compared with September 2015, it is 1 percentage point lower.
