The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is offering free shredding services throughout the state over the next several months. The service will run in conjunction with the CRRA’s obsolete electronics collection program.
The CRRA has been operating the free electronics collection program since 1999. Eco International will be providing the collection of the electronics throughout the locations in the state.
The paper shredding service began about one year ago. Shred-it is the vendor that will be providing the on-site shredding services to residents of cities that are a part of the CRRA.
A spokesman for the CRRA says that the number of people who have taken part in the free collection and shredding services has grown, with the number of people waiting to have their material disposed of exceeding 1,000.
The schedule, including locations, for the shredding services, are the following:
Aug. 21, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. -- CRRA Essex transfer station, Town Dump Rd., Essex
Sep. 18, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Glastonbury Highway Dept., 2380 New London Turnpike
Sep. 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. -- CRRA Transfer Station, Echo Lake Rd., Watertown
Oct. 2, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. -- CRRA Essex transfer station, Town Dump Rd., Essex
Oct. 16, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Stanley Jablonski Public Works Complex, 40 Moody Rd., Enfield
The CRRA expects to add more locations and dates in the near future.
