The California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) will be providing a set of classes for individuals enrolled in the group’s Resource Management Certification Program. CRRA says the courses are also open to “those seeking additional training in the fields of zero waste, recycling, composting and resource management. “

The courses being offered include:

• “Introduction to Zero Waste the Foundation for Resource Management,” taught by Gary Liss and Richard Anthony. The workshop will address “the history, technology, socio-economics, communications, ecology, and application of zero waste principles to real world problems.”

• “Business Recycling Tools,” taught by Richard Gertman and Tracie Bills. This course has been designed to “evaluate how cities can design and implement [recycling] programs to help businesses, and how businesses can take advantage of the systems available to them.”

• “Introduction to Organics Management and Composting,” taught by Matthew Cotton, is a course designed “as an introduction to the organic components of the waste stream and how to manage them.” Concepts to be covered include the organic components of the waste stream (leaves, grass, brush, food scraps), the basic principles of composting and markets for diverted organic materials.

• “Beyond Recycling,” taught by Stephanie Barger. This class will review the Zero Waste Business Principles and “go into detail on how to implement those principles for a particular business to achieve Zero Waste.”
