CRRA Announces 2003 Conference Details

Ontario, Calif., hosts the 2003 CRRA Convention.

The California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) holds its 2003 conference July 20 – 23 at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, Calif.

The conference begins with a series of CRRA Technical Council workshops and meetings Sunday, July 20. Following these meetings, the CRRA holds its annual members meeting to discuss issues and resolutions. Sunday night also offers an opportunity for networking during an evening welcome reception at California Speedway. Attendees may test drive alternative fuel vehicles displayed during the reception.

Monday’s events begin with a panel of keynote speakers addressing zero waste planning issues. The afternoon plenary session addresses consumer responsibility and examines statewide programs and policies. Consumer responsibility workshops on topics including C&D debris, curbside collections and e-waste collections follow the plenary session. The evening concludes poolside with rhythm and blues musicians as well as a cabaret set at the Marriott.

Tuesday’s keynote speakers address environmental injustice issues and changing corporate behave to support environmental sustainability. Morning and afternoon workshops focus on markets in reuse, recycling, regulated materials and composting/crushing arenas. An afternoon plenary session addresses producer responsibility and includes manufacturers, advocates and policy makers. CRRA presents its annual statewide recycling awards and the new Rick Best Environmental Advocacy Awards at a poolside ceremony Tuesday evening, which also includes a presentation of “Waste Side Story,” a live performance written specially for the convention.

The convention wraps up Wednesday with a morning plenary session featuring policy makers and advocates discussing the future of recycling in California, followed by an eight-hour household hazardous waste refresher training course, community action workshops and a selection of tours.

In addition to recycling-related products and services, the exhibit hall will feature lunch and refreshments Monday and Tuesday, with an evening reception scheduled from 5 to 7 Monday.
