Cronimet Envirotec GmbH has been selected by the German Sustainability Award Foundation as one of nine companies nominated for the German sustainability award. The prize is intended to show that sustainable entrepreneurial activity can, in addition to addressing social and environmental problems, also increase profitability and competitiveness.
Cronimet Envirotec, a subsidiary of the Karlsruhe, Germany-based Cronimet Group, says it provides for the sustainable treatment of industrial sludges. “The use of innovative solutions for the recycling of soft metal scrap, drilling sludge and catalysts lowers the disposal rates in the metals and petroleum industries,” says Cronimet. “The substances are separated in an environmentally friendly manner without chemical modification, so the output materials obtained can be reused by industry.”
The nomination of Cronimet Envirotec for the German sustainability prize “manifests the successful combination of economic success with social responsibility and the protection of the environment within the company,” says the firm.
After a second round of nominations and the announcement of the top three companies in the competition, the presentation of the sustainability award winner will take place on Dec. 8, 2017, during a ceremony in Düsseldorf, Germany, attended by invitees from companies, municipalities, government, academia and civil society.
The Cronimet Group describes itself as a worldwide specialist in the handling of stainless steel scrap, ferroalloys and primary metals. The company has been supplying raw materials for the stainless steel industry for three decades. Its focus is on trade and distribution, recycling and production and services. Founded in 1980, the company has more than 5,000 employees at 56 locations worldwide.
